Cuba and Norway join efforts to help Haiti
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Cuba and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) signed on Friday, 22 January an agreement of 5 million crowns Norwegian (approx. 885 000 USD). The agreement was signed by Ambassador Jan Tore Holvik and Deputy Minister Ramon Ripoll Diaz. Norway wants to support the important work being done by Cuban doctors in Haiti after the earthquake on Jan. 12. The funds will be earmarked for the purchase and shipment of drugs, and supplies for medical care provided by the Cuban medical brigade, made up of more than 400 physicians and other health workers. This agreement is an example of how Cuba and Norway, in a constructive manner, can cooperate on humanitarian projects in a third country.
